Options 101

The glossary, in plain English

The terms that come up most, defined without the textbook fog.

Credit SpreadSelling one option and buying a cheaper one further out, collecting the difference up front. Defined risk, defined reward.
Iron CondorTwo credit spreads at once, one above price and one below. You win if the underlying stays inside the range.
PremiumThe price of an option. As sellers, this is the income we collect for taking on defined risk.
Expected MoveHow far the market thinks a name can travel by expiration. We use the at-the-money straddle as a quick proxy.
DeltaRoughly the odds an option finishes in the money, and a rough standard-deviation boundary for picking strikes.
Defined RiskKnowing your maximum loss to the dollar before you enter. Every Coinfish trade is structured this way.
RollingClosing a tested position and reopening it at different strikes or a later date to manage risk or collect more credit.
LiquidityHow easily you can get in and out at a fair price. We trade liquid names so spreads are tight.
